Embracing Connection: Introducing The Mother Load Mom's Counselling Support Group

Motherhood is a journey filled with joy, challenges, and constant change. Yet, many mothers find themselves feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn for support. The truth is, connection plays a vital role in healing and growth during this unique phase of life. Recognizing this need, we are excited to introduce The Mother Load, a counselling support group created specifically for moms, led by myself and Kenzie Gogolinski, a fellow mom and counsellor.

Our goal is to build a safe space where mothers can share experiences, find understanding, and receive professional guidance. This post explores why connection matters so much for mothers and how The Mother Load can support your healing and well-being.

Why Connection Matters for Mothers

Motherhood often brings a profound shift in identity and daily life. Many mothers experience feelings of loneliness, stress, or self-doubt, even when surrounded by family. This happens because:

  • Social networks shrink as priorities change and time becomes limited.

  • Expectations increase both from society and oneself, creating pressure to “do it all.”

  • Emotional challenges arise from sleep deprivation, hormonal changes, and new responsibilities.

Connection with others who truly understand these experiences can provide relief and strength. Research shows that mothers who engage in supportive groups report:

  • Lower levels of anxiety and depression

  • Increased feelings of competence and confidence

  • Greater satisfaction with their parenting role

Connection is not just about talking; it’s about feeling seen, heard, and valued. This kind of emotional support fosters healing by reducing isolation and encouraging self-compassion.
